A $7 Turkey

This is a really good deal.  Most grocery stores have some sort of a deal on turkey and around here you can buy one for $7. Well, you may not need it for Thanksgiving (going out), or Christmas (prefer beef), but what about New Year's Day?  Maybe start a tradition. Whatever you chose, you get turkey, turkey sandwiches, leftovers (only once in this family), and turkey soup.  That $7 investment goes a long way.

Inbox Dollars

I joined Inbox dollars about 6 months ago or so.  I got the sign-on $5 and signed up for Netflix (the basic package - two movies per month $4.95), and got a little from that.  I also signed up for a couple of credit protection services and canceled after the introductory or free period (we just don't benefit from this to justify the cost right now).  Other than that, I just read e-mails every day - 2 cents per e-mail -- and do a survey every now and then (I rarely qualify).  Nevertheless, I'm slated to get my first $40 check to be mailed December 1.  I'm also now almost $10 into my second check, after a $5 renewal prize.  Okay, it's not a lot but it's something.  It helps towards the kids' allowances and may even pay for a few stocking stuffers. In all, I recommend it.

Enjoy,

Aaron Brothers/MIchael's Coupons

In almost every Sunday paper you will find 40% coupons for any regularly priced item in the store.  These are great coupons.  Ideally, you will have something in mind and buy it.  Of course, once you are in the store, so many things look so tempting.  Enjoy and purchase if you can.  If you really can't, enjoy window shopping- and plan for your next 40% off purchase.  I recently saw some adorable ornaments that will take a photograph.  What a nice memory.  They weren't expensive, maybe $6.  But what a great deal with 40% off.  You have a nice keepsake or gift and a little money goes into your savings pot.

Enjoy

Disneyland Digs -- Anaheim

Okay, we've taken this trip many times.  We've stayed many places, all based on our various price points. The best value for us and great fun:  The Sheraton Anaheim.  It looks like a castle, the rooms are great, the shuttle is wonderful - every 30 minutes, right on time, breakfasts are yummy (included in our package), on-site dinner is great and you usually get 15% off for eating onsite -not bad (sometimes works out just right - the kids share a couple of grown-up meals, or get the kids' meals), and there's a snack room (for better description), and a little arcade room.  I find that when making reservation, a Sheraton only asks how many adults are in the room.  This is good when reserving online.  If you also mention four kids, other hotel sites immediately require you to take two rooms.  My kids are too young for that, so we share the room and it's no problem.  All in all, the best part is Disneyland/California Adventure-so get a good value room and enjoy.

DC with Kids

I recently (last week of October) took the kids, ages 5, 7, 9, and 11 to DC for a sightseeing trip.  We loved it!! Stayed at the Embassy Suites on 22nd Street -- a great choice!  The reason I say that is the full breakfasts and the manager's special -- my kids loved the free sodas/nachos and it really curbed the appetites for supper.  We ate lightly.  This cannot be beat.  The sights:  Our favorites were the Capitol Tour (contact your congressman ahead of time), you will get in.  The Trolley (2 days) was fun- the zoo was great (took a cab there).  Loved the museums.  Keep in mind, generally, all the sights are free - just get yourselves there, get a value room and enjoy!!!

Benihana - Steak for Two - $37

This sounds like a yummy deal - Steak, Soup, salad, shrimp appetizer, vegetables, steamed rice and  tea,  for two - $37 (tax and gratuity excluded).

My girls love this place - add a couple of kids' meals, and the whole family can enjoy a special night out.   Maybe a good idea for a November treat.

American Girl - Free Shipping Until November 23

I received this shipping code in the mail: SHIP112310. It appears that it can be used for free shipping on orders over $100. If you have a fan in the house (I do), and plan on doing some Christmas shopping here this year (I may), this should come in handy.

Amazon Prime - Free 2-day shipping for the holidays

Something you savers may want to consider is temporarily signing up for Amazon Prime. You can sign up free for one month--- (two months if you sign up with Amazon mom) just be sure to cancel the one month program 29 days later (I calendared it) or your credit card will be charged $79. Why is it good now? It offers free two-day shipping.
I signed up Friday, ordered a DVD Saturday and received it today (Monday). Excellent service if you ask me. As a bonus, Amazon does not tax in my state, so I save even more.

Taco Tuesday- November 16

Tuesday, November 16, 2010, after 2pm - You can get two Free Tacos at Jack-in-the Box Restaurant.
